Madison Wellness Center Presents

Vic's Kenpo School of Martial Arts

Vic Hervias, Charter Member of the 2009 International Kenpo Karate Hall of Fame

In June 2009 Vic was inducted to the International Kenpo Karate Hall of Fame (IKKHoF) in Chicago, IL. His many years of training, fighting, and teaching brought him to being nominated by his peers in the art of Kenpo to that stature. Currently there are tens of thousands of Kenpo practitioners throughout the world, and growing everyday.

Vic's next challange is to help combine the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu art into the American Kenpo system.

This effort is currently lead by two of Vic's Kenpo peers and leaders of our Kenpo organization, Master Mick Leone (8th Degrre Kenpo Black Belt, and 2nd Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt)and Master Todd McElhinney, Head Instructor AKK, San Diego, (7th Degree Kenpo Black Belt, Purple Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), both also Charter Members of the Kenpo Hall of Fame, and both from San Diego, CA.

Input from May 2009:

Vic, his wife, and daughter (Victoria Hervias is also a BJJ student) are traveling to San Diego to train and colloborate on the formal incorporation of BJJ to the Kenpo system in the summer of 2009. The future looks good for the ever dynamic Kenpo karate system. While our art is Kenpo / Jiu Jitsu, we tended to do all of our damage to an attacker before we hit the ground. Todd and Mick are (both are leaders of our Kenpo organization) working to formally combine the best of both worlds, the great standup fighting we teach, and now formally input the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) to our system. While we are teaching BJJ and Judo, we have not made it formal yet.

Input from Aug 2009:

This effort is currently underway and Vic has updated our system to teach the BJJ art as part of the AKK art. This is now a formal part of our curriculum and taught to all members.

More to come on this subject....
